Gmail is concerned with your safety
I’m sure that security is the first concerned of everyone when we are going to banks to do transaction with them. What they do is that they are hiring only those trusted people so that they can be sure that our account will be safe and thus will be given the best service that they have to offer.
Remember that credit cards and ATM cards tends to have a password and if we enter the wrong pin then the account will be blocked. It must be enabled by bank employees so that it can be used again on transacting.
The same thing can be considered on our account online. Gmail has always made sure that our account with them is safe if we are using the https. HTTPS will then encrypt the password while it passes to their server so that the users can rest assure that no one knows about them. Not even the employees of Gmail will know their password. The downfall of using https is that it makes your browser slow because it tries to encrypt those passwords.
Gmail has been thinking about this and has come to conclusion that not everyone likes to use the feature. What is working for Jose won’t work for John. Now Gmail lets you set your browser to use which one do you like. You can set it to http so that it can run fast but unprotected or you can set it as https and enjoy the safeties but slow.
